Xe Pian Trekking - 2 Day Tour

The first and only overnight trek in the Xe Pian National Biodiversity Conservation Area, considered to be the second most important conservation area in Laos. The trek includes an overnight homestay at Ta Ong, an ethnic Lave village, and a boat ride in log canoes (weather permitting). Here you can see rare birds and gibbons in the forest.

Day 1: Depart at 8am from Pakse to Xe Pian (Phalaibok village). Here a local guide will tell you about the forest, wildlife and how they use the natural products of the forest for medicine and other uses.

We then start trekking through the forest to Ta Ong. On the way there will be a picnic lunch. Once arriving at Ta Ong you can relax in the bungalows with balconies overlooking the dense Xe Pian forest.

Ta Ong is an ethnic Lave villand and the locals speak Khmer as well as Lao and have their own unique culture and traditions. You can enjoy dinner with the villagers and try local food but don't worry if you struggle with local cuisine as we have some western food here just in case!

Day 2: We start early at 5am to take a short walk in the forest to watch birds feeding and if we are lucky to see the endangered Yellow-Cheeked Gibbons.

After breakfast at around 7am we start on the way back to Phalaibok through a different trail in the forest. Here you will have the opportunity to reach the top of a hill to take in the breathtking view of the dense forest and valleys of Xe Pian Natural Park. On arrival in Nong Pin we will take a boat along the Ta' Euang river to Phalaibok - a great chance to watch the wildlife and scenery.

On arrival in Phalaibok, relax and enjoy a well deserved late lunch before returning to Pakse or transfer to Si Phan Don on request.
