Bolaven Plateau & the Ho Chi Minh Trail - 3 Day Tour

Day 1: Pakse - Tad Lo

Departing Pakse at 8am, drive east by road to Tad Paxuam, a distinctive circular shaped waterfall which is featured on many postcards of Laos. Then it is on to Tad Lo where you will have lunch and swim in the cool pool at the top of the waterfall if you wish, take an afternoon stroll through the scenic areas or even take an elephant ride. We will spend the night in Tad Lo.

Day 2: Tad Lo - Attapeu

After breakfast we drive to Ban Mai in Sanamaxai Disctrict where we will take a boat ride up the Xe Pian river for about an hour to Tad Samongphak. Just after the rainy season this area is especially breahtaking when the rivers are high. From Samongphak waterfall we continue a short way by boat followed by a trek (around 1.5 hours) to Saepha waterfull where we will have a picnic lunch. After lunch we walk back to the river and take the boat to Ban Mai and then drive on to Attapeu for the night.

Day 3: Attapeu - Pakse

Attapeu is one of the most isolated and rugged regions in Laos with a wide variety of colourful wildlife and ethnic villages. Due to being along the Ho Chi Minh Trail and suffering heavy bombing during the Vietnam War, there are a large number of artefacts left over from the way.

We will visit the village of Pa-am where you will see the Ho Chi Minh trail and the remains of the old surface to air missiles. We then head back across the Bolaven Plateau via Katamtok waterfall and emerge at Paxong. Then we head to Tad Yuang waterfall for a swim, time to relax and lunch. Afterwards we will go to Tad Fan where you will see two stunning cascades framed against the Bolaven Plateau dropping nearly 120m,  making this one of the most spectacular sights in Laos.

Returning to Pakse we will pass the tea and coffee plantation where we can hopefully see the tea and cofee being processed.
