Wat Phu & Xe Pian - 1 Day Tour

A one day tour taking in the World Heritage Site of Wat Phu and to try elephant ridig in the Xe Pian National Protected Area, full of wildlife and rare birds.

 

Departing Pakse at 8am, we head south to the town of Champasak where you will visit Wat Phu.

 

Wat Phu is a National Heritage Site that was built in the 6th century by the Khmer's and was originally used to worship the Hindu God Shiva and other deity's before being converted into a Buddhist temple in later centuries. Wat Phu was considered the centre of the Khmer Kingdom until it was moved to Angkor Wat in the 12th century.

 

After lunch in Champasak we head towards Xe Pian NBCA. At the village of Ban Kiat Ngong you will take an elephant ride for about 1 1/2 hours up the mountain to see Phou Asa Temple before returning to Pakse.

Wat Phu and Islands - 2 Day Tour

A two day tour taking in the World Heritage Site of Wat Phu, Xe Pian and the natural wetlands of Si Phan Don.

 

Day 1: Morning visit to Wat Phu. Wat Phu is a National Heritage Site that was built in the 6th century by the Khmer's and was originally used to worship the Hindu God Shiva and other deity's before being converted into a Buddhist temple in later centuries. Wat Phu was considered the centre of the Khmer Kingdom until it was moved to Angkor Wat in the 12th century.

 

After lunch we head towards Xe Pian National Protected Area. At the village of Ban Kiat Ngong you will take an elephant ride for about 1 1/2 hours up the mountain to see Phou Asa Temple. We then continue on to Don Khone where you will spend the night in stunning bungalows overlooking the old railway bridge and the Mekong.

 

Day 2: Departing from Don Khone at 8.30 after breakfast we will visit Liphi waterfall and the old French railway bridge before heading out to see the rare Irrawaddy dolphins. Wat Phu and Khon Pha Peng Waterfall - 1 Day Tour

A one day tour taking in the World Heritage Site of Wat Phu and the famous Khon Pha Peng Waterfall known as the 'Niagara of South East Asia'.

After lunch in Champasak we continue on to Khon Pha Peng waterfall. This is an incredible waterfall near the Cambodian border. You can spend time here relaxing and taking photos before we return to Pakse mid afternoon.
